About the Course:
With over 72,000 drug related overdose deaths in the United States during 2017, our police officers are on the front line of what is being described as an epidemic. First responders are tasked with battling this epidemic on a daily basis and are being exposed to an increasing number of fentanyl and other opioid drugs that pose a significant threat. Today’s officers need the appropriate training to not only remain safe, but to be able to recognize the paraphernalia, dilutants and adulterants that are synonymous with each drug.
In this course, students will learn to identify the most common illegal drugs currently being distributed on the streets, the effects these drugs have on the body, the pre-cursors and paraphernalia commonly associated with the drugs and how to properly document this information in a police report.
The ability to quickly identify illegal narcotic activity greatly increases officer safety and will assist the officer in furthering their drug investigations and ability to articulate reasonable suspicion and probable cause that they may have previously overlooked due to lack of a proper training foundation.
Who should attend:
All sworn police officers can benefit from this course regardless of rank and time in service. The instructor's vast narcotic investigative experience brings this course to the next level and is a must for officers looking to make an impact battling the drug epidemic in America. This course also helps officers stay safe during these investigations by training them to recognize the illegal drugs being seen on the streets by officers across the United States.
Patrol Drug Recognition is a two-day course.
