The Instructor:
Acting Captain Ronald Mello (Ret.) is a seasoned law enforcement professional with over 30 years of distinguished service. He dedicated more than two decades to the City of Manchester, New Hampshire Police Department, where he progressed through the ranks from Patrol Officer and Detective to Sergeant and ultimately Acting Captain. As a Sergeant, he served in the Patrol Division and was later appointed Officer in Charge of the Domestic Violence Unit and the Sex Offender Compliance Unit. He also led the Crisis Negotiator Unit (SWAT) as its Unit Supervisor. Upon promotion to Lieutenant, he assumed command of the Juvenile Unit before being assigned to the Legal Division, where he served as Division Commander until his retirement.
Acting Captain Mello holds certifications in Hostage Negotiation and Crisis Intervention. He is an experienced Instructor and former Team Leader of the Crisis Intervention Team. His career reflects deep expertise in police operations, internal investigations, and all aspects of recruitment, hiring, and promotion processes within law enforcement. Following his retirement from the Manchester Police Department, Acting Captain Mello continued his service to public safety as an Investigator with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) in Jacksonville, Florida. He later joined the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office in St. Augustine, Florida, where he currently served as a Jury Assistant.
